Job vacancy - Site Estimator

Connect it are a growing multi utility company and to help support our success we are looking to expand our Estimating Team by recruiting an additional Site Estimator.

As part of the dedicated estimating team under the power network framework contract within the business, you will carry out either desktop quoting or visit sites to establish requirements and translate this into a complete preconstruction technical assessment, which is then reviewed and approved by the Senior Site Estimator before submission for client acceptance.

This is an end-to-end service, ensuring all factors of each estimate have been assessed and detailed to meet client requirements and expectations. Site Estimators are responsible for raising robust and detailed options which meet the customer needs and deliver an exceptional service.

Job location: Foundation House, Hedge End, Southampton

The role will be responsible for:

  • Competently review drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes, to ensure contract requirements have been thoroughly identified along with any constraints or risks.
  • Ensure that the quotation content is appropriate to the task required and if necessary, provide additional options that enable information and choice to the customer, as well as delivering compliant, quality work and safe outcomes.
  • Carry out desktop quotations for standard specification works.
  • Visit sites to ascertain conditions and constraints that should be considered when submitting the final quotation.
  • Identify any potential delays (and advise of mitigation methods) not already accounted for and/or identify alternative methods that improve project delivery.
  • Liaise with the commercial team to ensure the scope survey achieves framework obligations and ensures businesses objectives will be met.
  • Working as a team, regularly communicate with internal and external key stakeholders and third parties.
  • Submit site reports, using Boris/Salesforce that provide enough information to respond on a quotation.
  • Provide regular updates to the Framework Project Manager, e.g. site visit information, recommendations and actions, number of visits attended within the time frame required.
  • Maintain knowledge to ensure the latest procedures, innovations or new ways of working are built into the role, ensuring efficiencies are identified and continuous improvements delivered.

Qualifications and experience:

  • At least 4 years’ experience delivering contractor projects, planning and delivery.
  • Degree/HNC qualified or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, ideally Power Networks.
  • Sound knowledge of CDM requirements.
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Proficient in use of IT systems.
  • Great communicator (written and verbal).
  • UK driving licence and comfortable visiting sites around South of England.
