Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your commercial career? We’re seeking a proactive and driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team and play a key role in delivering a major, high-value Electrical and Civils Framework.

Foundation House – Hedge End

Responsibilities

  • Framework Management: Direct involvement in managing a large Connection Framework.
  • Internal Commercial Processes: Focus on optimising the commercial management of high-volume schemes to maximise value.
  • Revenue Development: Identify and develop new revenue streams through post-contract management, including design and construction methodology changes.
  • Team Support: Assist fellow QS with team management and oversee daily SSEN Commercial activities, covering pre- and post-contract work and internal cost management of labour, plant, and materials.
  • Contract Management: Maintain strong contractual discipline in estimating, cost analysis, and change control management.
  • Financial Impact: Demonstrate strong commercial and financial understanding, evaluating how various elements of utility schemes impact profitability.

Qualifications

  • Industry Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of the utilities industry, including commercial practices.
  • Contract Management: Proficient knowledge of NEC contracts and experience in managing and administering term Framework Agreements.
  • Cross-functional Engagement: Willingness to collaborate with other departments such as Finance, Estimating, Operations and Technical to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Ability to produce monthly reports, including Applications for Payment, Invoices, and necessary notifications.
  • Supply Chain Management: Experience in procurement, post-contract administration, and supply chain management.
  • Team Management: Experience in managing teams or individuals, with the ability to lead the commercial and administration team.
  • Forecasting and Cash Flow: Ability to produce forecasts, cash flows, and manage debt accounts.
  • Revenue Administration: Experience in administering debt accounts, ensuring revenue is secured by liaising with debtors.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, and programs.
  • Site Visits: Attend site meetings and visits as necessary to produce quotations and assist with management.
  • Communication and Organisation: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Initiative: A proactive, results-driven individual with the ability to innovate and lead change effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrates exceptional accuracy and strong time management skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and experience using software packages for commercial documentation and reporting.

Educational Requirements

  • A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field in Utilities, Civils, or Construction is preferred.
  • Motivated to continue professional development and work towards chartered status.
  • Full UK driving licence.
