Foundation House, Hedge End, Southampton

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, checking, and accurately recording incoming goods using warehouse inventory systems.
  • Safely storing materials and maintaining organised stock locations.
  • Picking and preparing materials accurately and within required timescales using handheld devices and warehouse management systems.
  • Assisting with the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles and plant trailers in accordance with loading restrictions and transport regulations.
  • Delivering materials, equipment, and plant trailers to operational sites when required.
  • Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages, damages, defects, or discrepancies.
  • Participating in stock counts and stocktaking activities to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Maintaining equipment, tools, and plant in line with maintenance schedules and reporting any defects.
  • Issuing plant and equipment through company systems to maintain accurate asset tracking.
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse and yard.
  • Working safely at all times and complying with Health, Safety, Environmental, and company procedures.
  • Supporting yard operations and acting as a banksman when required.
  • Ensuring waste materials are disposed of safely and responsibly.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve warehouse processes and efficiencies.
  • Building positive working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, drivers, and client representatives.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A good understanding of warehouse operations, stock control, and inventory management.
  • Experience using warehouse inventory systems and handheld devices.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse and site Health & Safety requirements.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A positive, proactive, and flexible approach to work.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to maintaining safe working practices and excellent housekeeping standards.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and suggest process improvements.

 

Educational Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a warehouse or stores environment.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.
  • Competency in driving and towing.
  • Certification to operate multidirectional/combi forklifts.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of warehouse Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
